Our own member Lion Charles Wroblewski was honored by the Seaford American Legion at its annual "Law & Order" ceremonies. This weeks Wantagh/Seaford Citizen carried the news of this event. Past President Lion Don Paulson was the biographical presenter for Lion Charlie. This is just another example of how our Club members are part of the fabric of this close knit community.

CLIFFY VISITS LIONS
At the January 4, 2010 regular meeting of the Seaford Lions Club the members and guests present were introduced to "Cliffy" by his new owner Matthew Puvogel. Matthew was the program speaker and was pleased to show off the guide dog he owns that was sponsored by the Seaford Lions. His talk outlined the phases of training that he and Cliffy sucessfully completed. Matthew commutes daily with Cliffy to his job in New York City where he is involved with helping disabled workers. With the help of Cliffy he is able to set an outstanding example for others to follow.  Mr. Puvogel, a graduate of Seaford High School, is a life long resident of Seaford and enjoys playing serious competition in "beeper" softball leagues around the USA. Matthew's proud parent's were also at this meeting.

SEAFORD LIONS HOST OPERATION SPLASH SPEAKER

Captain Don Harris was the featured speaker at the October 5, 2010 regular meeting of the Seaford Lions Club held at Runyon’s restaurant in Seaford.  His power point presentation highlighted the work of this organization. Operation SPLASH (Stop Polluting Littering And Save Harbors), a volunteer non-profit organization started in 1990, provides a solution to the growing problem of waterfront pollution through public awareness and individual participation. The SPLASH boats are docked at the Town of Hempstead 's Guy Lombardo Marina in Freeport and at Nassau County's Wantagh Park Marina and also at East Rockaway's Town Marina. Each boat goes out at least once daily and actually removes debris from the local waterways and shorelines. SPLASH has hundreds of active members who are dedicated to keeping our coastal waterways pollution free, allowing marine life to thrive once again in the bays. The Seaford Lions Club has frequently scheduled programs to keep the members informed of community activities. As part of the largest service organization in the world, Lions Clubs International, the Seaford Club, chartered in 1952, has been in continuous active support of many local community needs. If you are interested in becoming a member please contact us at SEAFORDLIONS@AOL.COM or 516-785-0067 and be sure to visit our website WWW.SEAFORDLIONS.ORG
